Who REALLY is Ali Wong’s husband?

Ali Wong’s husband is actually Justin Hakuta, an American businessman who graduated from the Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor’s degree, and received his MBA from the prestigious Harvard University. Before that, he went to Washington’s Sidwell Friends School, while he has also had some business training at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, in Mexico. He was born on 18 October 1982, in Washington D.C. USA, and so holds American nationality.

Ali Wong’s husband hasn’t shared much about his early years with the public. He grew up with his Japanese father Ken Hakuta and his Filipino mother – his father was a TV personality, and people mostly recognize him by the name Dr. Fad, as he spent the ‘80s anchoring the “Dr. Fad” kid’s show – as the show was his idea and was such a great success, Ken was recognized as the inventor of the year by one of the institutes in Philadelphia. Ken met his Filipino wife while both of them were working in the World Bank – they married in 1977 and have three kids together: Justin, Kenzo, and Aki.

Ali Wong’s husband launched his career in 2004, when he started working for Honest Tea Company as their sales and marketing associate. He was there to represent the company at the Green Festival and Fancy Food Show events, and was part of the team for four months before he co-founded All Day Buffer later in the year. The company organized several national fund-raising events for the local non-profit organization called Cause for Drinks.

At the same time when he launched his company, Justin began working for the Center for Court Innovation as their research Analyst – his main role was to analyze the efficiency of the Midtown Community Court, as it was sentencing people charged with misdemeanor and violations of several laws.

He stayed with them for two years before he began to work for the Institute of International Education (IIE)as a Fulbright scholar – the job was based in the Philippines and Justin’s task was to conduct research on how non-governmental organizations are fighting modern day slavery that was happening in the Philippines. He was in charge of a team of seven writers and a web designer, and they are credited with the making of the number one Google-ranked blog about human trafficking, which won the IIE New Leaders Award in 2008.

Justin returned to the US in 2008, and began working for the Seventh Generation in June 2009 as a Marketing and Operations Intern, and was only part of the team for three months. In the beginning of 2010, he launched the Avacara Company, and was in charge of a team of 10 engineers and contract designers, whose goal was to make new technology platforms based on the health, wellness, and finance industries.

One of the longest jobs he has had during his career was for DIRECTV Digital Innovation Laboratory – he began working for them in April 2013 as their product strategist and UX lead, and left the company in July 2015 after two years and four months. He has spent the next year working for Cargomatic Incorporated as their Senior Product Manager, and then switched to GoodRx –worked for them for two years and seven months before quitting in February 2019.

As soon as she graduated, Ali tried performing as a stand-up comedian at the Brainwash Café, and was instantly loved by the audience – encouraged by their reaction, she moved to New York City to pursue her career in comedy – she is said to have performed for a record nine times in a single night. Thanks to her skills, Variety media company named her one of the “10 comics to watch” in 2011, and she was invited to be a guest on “John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show”, “The Tonight Show”, and “Comedy Underground Show”, and after these appearances Ali was already somewhat popular across the US.

Ali is a bit of an actress as well, as she has appeared in the “Are You There, Chelsea?” NBC’s comedy series, and went on to appear in the movies “Savages” alongside Salma Hayek, and “Dealin’ with Idiots”.

Ali is quite active and very popular on the Internet – she launched her Twitter account in June 2009, and has so far gathered over 130,000 followers and tweeted nearly 2,200 times. Her Instagram account is followed by over 1.1 million fans while she’s uploaded nearly 1,200 pictures.
