Who is Sheena Parveen?
Sheena was born in India on 23 May 1987, so under the zodiac sign of Gemini and now holding American nationality as she moved to the US at a very early age – Sheena came into the spotlight after she started working as a weather reporter for the NBC network in San Diego.
Early life and education
Sheena spent her entire childhood on the coast of Florida with her parents – her love towards meteorology started developing at a very young age as she always considered weather to be fascinating. Her father is originally from India, and has been working as a computer programmer while her mom is originally from the US, and worked in the real estate industry – Sheena is an only child and doesn’t have any siblings.
While other kids hated bad weather and thunderstorms which scared them, Sheena was amazed by it, and wanted to know more about it. ‘I used to watch thunderstorms all the time, and I always loved watching lightning, so I knew I wanted to do something with weather. It really wasn’t until I got to college that I realized I could pursue this. And at Florida State, when you go through the meteorology department, you have the chance to do on-camera stuff, and that’s when I started to realize that I could do this.’
After matriculating from a local high school in Florida, Sheena enrolled at the Florida University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology.
Career in journalism
Sheena was ready to start working as soon as she received her degree – her first job was a reporter and a meteorologist for the ABC’s MSBC TV station based in Tallahassee in Florida. People almost instantly fell for Sheena thanks to her looks and her reporting skills, however, she didn’t stayed with the station for long as she switched to WCTV, and became their weather reporter and columnist. She also hosted a special kind of show entitled “Pet Adoption” which aired every Sunday morning, focusing on numerous pet adoption issues, and often hosted people from the Human Society of Tampa Bay – Sheena even helped adopt a couple of puppies.
She became part of the NBC 10 team in Philadelphia in December 2011 – she was praised for her performance there, and was named the “It Girl” in 2012 by the “Daily News”. During the years she spent as part of the NBC 10, Sheena was also occasionally working with other radio and TV stations such as 101.1 MORE FM, CSN, and the 76ers. She was part of the NBC 10 for five years until 2016, when she switched to working for NBC 4 based in Washington D.C.
Since early 2019, Sheena has been working for NBC 7 San Diego, and can be seen during their “News Today” and “News Midday” shows – she has now covered almost all the possible weather events including hurricanes, tornadoes, and blizzards. Some of the most significant stories she covered was Hurricane Sandy as it hit the Jersey Shore, the blizzard which happened in 2016 and required her to update people about it multiple times a day for a couple of days, and she also covered the EF5 tornado which destroyed an elementary school in Moore in Oklahoma.
Personal life and relationships
Sheena is more or less secretive when it comes to her personal matters but is rumored to have dated several people, most of who are celebrities, including William Green, Jamison Uhler who is a popular anchor who had worked for NBC 10, Hugh Jackson, and even Jason Statham, one of the current famous actors in Hollywood. None of these rumors have been confirmed, while she dismissed the one about Jason Statham as the two have apparently only met once, when Sheena got a chance to interview him.
It is rumored that Sheena was married before to a man named Charlie, but this has not been confirmed by her, even though a lot of people talked about it. She is currently said to be dating a popular ice hockey player named Scott Hartnell after the two were seen together a couple of times, but neither of them have confirmed the rumors (nor denied them).
Other likes and interests
Sheena has been interested in sports since she was in high school, and played volleyball for her high school’s team, while she now plays golf and goes paddleboarding – she is said to have ordered a paddleboard from San Diego to be shipped to her in Philadelphia, and considered that to be her ‘best decision ever’. She is a big dog lover and enjoys spending her free time with her dogs Max and Bella, who she adopted from Georgia and Africa – she is also very fond of travelling and enjoys exploring places she has never been to before. According to her interview with Philly Mag, Sheena loves to cook and can make whatever you can think of – her personal favorite dish is spaghetti with meat sauce or chilli. Her favorite TV show is “Curb your Enthusiasm”, so much so that she made the theme song the ringtone on her phone.
