Who is Dave Marciano?

Dave was born in Ipswich, Massachusetts USA, on 5 December 1965, so under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius and holding American nationality. He is famous nationally for being a fisherman who appeared in the “Wicked Tuna” TV series.

Early life and education

Dave spent his childhood in Ipswich with his family – even though he wasn’t born into a fisher family, his mother used to take him to the ponds in his hometown, and he asked on one occasion if she would buy him a ‘fishing stick’. When he got it, he would spend several hours just fishing – or angling, for pleasure – and his love for it grew stronger over the years – he got ‘hooked’ for the first time at that period as the hook went through his ankle! He didn’t have any problems because of it as his mother took him to the hospital, they cut him a bit, and took the hook out – ‘Cut cut, right through the hook, and slide it right out, easy as pie.’

When he turned nine, his parents moved with him to Beverly, a harbor city, which is where he got a chance at improving his skills and talent – he enrolled at the Gloucester High School and he was simultaneously studying and working on a Yankee Fleet Boat – he wasn’t very interested in studying, preferring to spend time on the boat – he finished school but decided not to pursue a college degree, rather chasing his dreams.

Fishing career

As soon as he matriculated from high school, the same company for which he had worked offered him a full-time job which he gladly accepted, and soon got his Captain’s license. Even though he was making a nice sum of money as a Captain, Dave knew that he could do more and therefore bought himself a ship and began working for himself.

He was soon invited to appear on the National Geographic’s TV series entitled “Wicked Tuna” which made him somewhat famous as the show was quite popular, showing how the fishermen live while on the sea, how they work, while also revealing their background stories. Dave has also been a part of the show’s spin-off series entitled “Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks” since it debuted on 17 August 2014.

The “Wicked Tuna” helped Dave befriend many people, while he also made some enemies because it is a very competitive job and everybody wants to be the best at it. Some of the people working for Dave stated how he became greedy during the years and that his ego got too big to handle.

He founded his own company called “Hard Merchandise”, which is also the name of his main boat – on its website you can buy t-shirts, hats, tank tops, kids’ t-shirts, hoodies, and read about Dave’s boat and his crew; you can also contact him if you have any questions or suggestions.

Dave’s First Mate Jason Muenzner

Dave hired his nephew Jason to serve as his First Mate as he is a skilled fisherman – Jason was born on 18 July 1988 and matriculated from Salem High School in 2006 but decided not to pursue a college degree. He loves being on the boat with his uncle Dave, and when not on it is either skateboarding or snowboarding.

Their crew counts one more ‘person’ – Wilson is a ball whose name is a reference to the “Cast Away” movie, they picked him up from the sea and made him a profile on Facebook as well.

The “Wicked Tuna” show

“Wicked Tuna” is a reality TV series about the fishermen living in Gloucester, Massachusetts – they fish in the North Atlantic Ocean and compete to see who can catch the most Atlantic Bluefin tuna. The show began airing on the National Geographic Channel on 1 April 2012 and Dave has been part of it since the very beginning.

The show isn’t only focused on the competition between the fishermen – it also shows the issues which the fish are facing, and gives answers to questions such as if the Bluefin tuna could maybe become extinct. The show’s eighth season began airing on 11 March 2019, and the entire “Wicked Tuna” series so far counts around 100 episodes and six specials – each episode is around one hour long.

Dave’s marriage

Dave is a married man as he exchanged vows with his other half Nancy in 1990 – she’s given birth to their three kids throughout the years named Angelica, Joseph, and Eva. Even though their kids do not share the same passion towards fishing as Dave, and don’t enjoy spending too much time on the boat, Dave loves them unconditionally, and is letting them choose what they want to be in life.

His wife Nancy has been in the fishing industry since she was a child – all the men in her family have been engaged in fishing, while she also came to love it as the years passed. She can often be seen fishing with Dave, and even without him – she holds the record for catching the largest fish by a woman in Massachusetts.

Problems with the law

On 20 January 2015, Dave was arrested for assaulting a woman – while he has never commented about it in public, his wife stated how he could never do such a thing. According to the police, Dave pulled the woman’s ponytail in the Hotel Clerk located in Morehead City in North Carolina – he did it to flirt with the woman, but perhaps showing that he’s not very good at it.

Appearance and net worth

Dave is currently 53 years old, is bald and has brown eyes, but his height and weight are not known.

According to authoritative sources, Dave’s current net worth is estimated to be over $600,000 and is slowly rising – he is said to be making around $8,300 for each episode of “Wicked Tuna” that he appears in.

Social media presence

Dave is quite active on several social media platforms – he launched his Twitter account in April 2012 and has so far gathered nearly 27,000 followers and tweeted over 40,000 times. His Instagram account is followed by over 37,000 people while he’s uploaded around 730 pictures – he has a personal Facebook account which he uses to stay in touch with his family and friends, while he also has a Facebook page for fans which counts over 15,000 followers.
